Why Pellets are better than Injections or Creams?
Biote Pellets are superior to other forms of hormone delivery because of their duration of action and mechanism of release into the body. A typical patient will apply a hormone cream or gel twice a day or inject themselves one to two times a week with a slow-release hormone like testosterone cypionate. Injectable hormones come with the burden of a patient having to inject themselves, or travel to their clinic every week to receive the injection performed… not to mention the pain of the injection itself.Injectable hormones produce sharp “peaks and troughs” in drug concentration in the time between the patient’s injections. Peaks can be dangerous, as the drug concentration will be higher than what is physiological for the patient, and troughs will leave the patient feeling poorly in the days leading up to their next shot. Creams and gels provide stable hormone levels but can take weeks for their effects to be noticed by the patient and can cause negative effects on loved ones who come in contact with areas where the creams are applied.
Pellets are bioidentical with less side effects than creams or injections. The long duration of action (3 to 6 months)of the pellet is preferred by patients. Ultimately, the decision of which HRT dosage form is ideal for you and your lifestyle should be made with the input of your provider.

We will schedule a consultation with you in our Henderson Nevada office to review your health history, evaluate your symptoms and order blood tests. Labs can be drawn in our office or at the laboratory of your choice. The cost of the labs may be covered by your insurance or we offer discounted lab pricing through our lab contacts. Cost of pre-pellet hormone & thyroid testing without insurance is $200
Step 2: Pellet Placement

You will schedule and appointment for Biote pellets placement with Dr. Kerry Palakanis, a certified Biote provider. Pellets are inserted just under the skin in the hip or flank region. A local anesthetic is injected to insert the pellet which is about the size of a grain of rice. The total time for a pellet insertion appointment is typically less than 30 minutes. Labs will be redrawn approximately 6 weeks after your first pellet appointment. Booster pellets may be placed, at no additional cost to you, if needed. The benefits of Biote Pellets last approximately 3-4 months for women and 4-5 months for men after which time new pellets will be placed to continue therapy. Follow-up laboratory testing cost is $100 and your insurance may cover the cost of testing.
